Air Fryer Honey Garlic Glazed Turkey Wings

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds turkey wings (cut into drumettes and flats, or whole if preferred)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter for added richness)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

For the Honey Garlic Glaze:

  • ¼ cup honey (or maple syrup for a different sweetness)

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic paste)

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar for tang)

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional, for depth of flavor)

  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional, for a touch of heat)

Optional Add-ons:

  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (for a zingy twist)

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (for a thicker glaze)

Equipment Needed:

  • Air fryer

  • Mixing bowl

  • Small saucepan (for the glaze)

  • Paper towels or a clean kitchen towel

  • Tongs

Detailed Instructions

  1. Prepare the Turkey Wings:

    • Rinse the turkey wings under cold water and pat them thoroughly dry with paper towels. Removing moisture ensures a crispy finish.

    • If using whole wings, separate them into drumettes and flats with a sharp knife or kitchen shears.

  2. Season the Turkey Wings:

    • Place the wings in a large mixing bowl.

    • Drizzle olive oil over the wings to help the seasoning adhere.

    • Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper evenly over the wings. Toss until well coated.

  3. Preheat the Air Fryer:

    • Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (182°C) for 5 minutes. The lower temperature helps cook turkey wings evenly, as they’re larger than chicken wings.

  4. Cook the Turkey Wings:

    • Lightly grease the air fryer basket with non-stick spray or a small amount of oil.

    • Arrange the wings in a single layer to allow proper airflow.

    • Cook at 360°F for 25 minutes, flipping or shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.

  5. Crisp to Perfection:

    • Increase the air fryer temperature to 400°F (204°C) and cook for an additional 5–7 minutes to crisp the skin to a golden finish.

  6. Prepare the Honey Garlic Glaze:

    • While the wings are finishing, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil (if using), and red chili flakes (optional) in a small saucepan.

    • Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture simmers and slightly thickens, about 3–5 minutes. For a thicker glaze, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until desired consistency is reached. Adjust sweetness and saltiness to taste.

  7. Toss the Wings in Glaze:

    • Remove the cooked wings from the air fryer and transfer them to a large bowl.

    • Pour the warm honey garlic glaze over the wings and toss gently until thoroughly coated.

  8. Serve:

    • Arrange the glazed wings on a serving platter. Garnish with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, or fresh cilantro for added flair. Serve immediately with a side of rice or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.

Pro Tips for Success

  • Marinate for More Flavor: Let the turkey wings marinate in olive oil, garlic powder, and soy sauce for 1–2 hours before cooking for a deeper flavor.

  • Adjust Heat Levels: Add more red chili flakes or a dash of sriracha for spicier wings, or omit chili altogether for a milder version.

  • Batch Cooking: If your air fryer is small, cook the wings in batches to ensure they crisp evenly. Keep finished wings warm in a 200°F (93°C) oven while cooking the remaining batch.

Storage and Reheating:

  • Store leftover wings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

  • Reheat wings in the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 5–7 minutes, and brush with fresh glaze before serving for extra flavor. Air Fryer Honey Garlic Glazed Turkey Wings
