Air Fryer Lava Cake
Servings: 4
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 8-10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
1/2 cup unsalted butter
4 oz semi-sweet chocolate (chopped)
1 cup powdered sugar
2 large eggs
2 large egg yolks
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Cooking spray
Optional: powdered sugar, berries, or ice cream for serving
Instructions:
Prepare the Chocolate Mixture:
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chopped chocolate and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
Mix the Batter:
Whisk in the powdered sugar until smooth, then add the eggs and egg yolks, whisking until well combined.
Stir in the flour and salt until just combined, making sure there are no lumps. The batter should be thick and smooth.
Prepare the Ramekins:
Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (190°C).
Lightly grease 4 small ramekins with cooking spray. Divide the batter evenly among the ramekins, filling them about 3/4 of the way full.
Air Fry the Lava Cakes:
Place the ramekins in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are spaced apart.
Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly soft. The tops should appear slightly cracked.
Serve and Enjoy:
Let the lava cakes cool for 1-2 minutes before carefully inverting each ramekin onto a plate. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with berries or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent dessert.
Pro Tips:
Chocolate Quality: Use high-quality semi-sweet chocolate for the best flavor. You can also use dark chocolate for a richer taste.
Don’t Overcook: To achieve the gooey center, keep a close eye on the lava cakes and avoid overcooking. They should be set on the outside and slightly soft in the middle.
Ramekin Size: Make sure to use small, oven-safe ramekins that fit in your air fryer basket.
Make Ahead: You can prepare the batter ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours. Bring to room temperature before cooking.
Serving Suggestions for Air Fryer Lava Cake:
Classic Pairing: Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a warm and cold contrast.
Add Fruit: Fresh berries like raspberries or strawberries add a burst of tartness that complements the rich chocolate.
