Ingredients:
24 wonton wrappers
1/2 pound ground pork (or substitute with ground chicken or shrimp)
1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Cooking spray
Instructions:
Prepare the Filling:
In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, garlic powder, and black pepper.
Mix thoroughly until all the ingredients are well combined.
Fill the Wontons:
Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of the filling mixture in the center of each wrapper.
Lightly wet the edges of the wonton wrapper with water using your finger or a small brush.
Fold the wrapper over the filling to form a triangle, pressing down to seal the edges tightly. You can also bring the corners together to create a little pouch shape if desired.
Preheat and Air Fry:
Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Arrange the wontons in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they do not overlap. You may need to cook them in batches.
Lightly spray the tops of the wontons with cooking spray to help them crisp up.
Air fry at 370°F for 8-10 minutes, or until the wontons are golden brown and crispy, flipping them halfway through for even cooking.
Serve and Enjoy:
Remove the wontons from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute or two.
Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or a mix of soy sauce and rice vinegar.
Tips for Success:
Do Not Overfill: Avoid overfilling the wontons, as this can make them difficult to seal and may cause the filling to leak during cooking.
Seal Tightly: Make sure the edges of the wontons are sealed tightly to prevent any filling from escaping while air frying.
Variations:
Vegetarian Wontons: Substitute the ground pork with finely chopped vegetables like cabbage, carrots, and mushrooms for a vegetarian version.
Cheese Wontons: Mix cream cheese with chopped green onions and a little garlic powder for a creamy, cheesy filling.
Spicy Wontons: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the filling mixture for a spicy kick.
These Air Fryer Wontons are an easy and fun appetizer that’s sure to be a hit at any gathering. Crispy, golden, and filled with a savory mix, they’re perfect for dipping and sharing with friends and family. Enjoy them hot for the best texture and flavor!
